Refund Policy

Psychotherapy Training Cohort Fees & Refund Policy

1. Application Fees and Deposits

Application Processing Fees: All application fees (where applicable) are strictly non-refundable and cover the administrative cost of processing documentation and conducting admissions interviews.

Course Deposit: Upon being offered a place on a foundation year or clinical training year, a non-refundable deposit (typically 10% to 20% of the annual tuition fee) is required to secure your seat. This deposit is non-refundable under any circumstances, except where the Institute cancels the cohort prior to commencement.

2. Statutory Cooling-Off Period (Consumer Contracts Regulations)

For bookings made online or over the telephone, students have a statutory right to cancel their registration within14 calendar days from the date the initial deposit or payment is made.

If a student exercises this right, the Institute will refund all payments received, including the deposit.

Exception: If the training cohort commences within this 14-day period at the explicit request of the student, the cost of any training modules or contact hours delivered up to the date of cancellation will be deducted from the refund.

3. Withdrawal and Cancellation Schedule

Once the 14-day statutory cooling-off period has expired, the following multi-tiered refund schedule applies to all annual training programmes:

Notice Period Provided by Student | Financial Liability / Refund Status

Greater than 28 days prior to Day 1 of the course  Full refund of any annual fees paid minus the non-refundable deposit.

14 to 28 days prior to Day 1 of the course 50% of the annual course fee becomes immediately due and is non-refundable.

Less than 14 days prior to Day 1, or after the course has commenced 100% liability. No refunds are issued. The full annual fee remains payable.

Total Annual Commitment

Psychotherapy training is delivered as a continuous, year-long group process. By enrolling and signing the training contract, the student explicitly enters into a financial commitment for the entire academic year.

If a student chooses to withdraw, defer, pause, or leave the training program at any point after the 14-day period prior to Day 1, no refunds will be given for modules not attended, and any outstanding balance of the annual fee remains fully payable.

This applies regardless of whether the student pays the annual fee upfront or via an instalment / Direct Debit arrangement. Choosing an instalment plan is a payment convenience, not a modular pay-as-you-go contract.

4. Exceptional Circumstances & Deferrals

Mitigating Circumstances: Refunds or the freezing of fees due to unexpected severe medical illness, bereavement, or sudden major changes in personal circumstances are granted entirely at the absolute discretion of the Institute's Directors.

Deferrals: If an exceptional deferral is approved on clinical or personal grounds, the Institute may, at its discretion, roll over a portion of the paid tuition fees to the following academic year, minus an administrative deferral fee (typically £150–£250) to cover cohort disruption and re-registration costs.

5. Short Courses, CPD Workshops, and TA101s

For standalone introductory courses (such as the official TA101) or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshops, a separate, simplified cancellation policy applies:

Cancellations more than 14 days before the event: Full refund minus a small administrative fee of £25.

Cancellations less than 14 days before the event: Strictly non-refundable. Students may be permitted to transfer their ticket to a colleague or nominate a substitute attendee, subject to prior written approval from the Institute.

6. Course Cancellation or Alteration by the Institute

Cancellation: The Institute reserves the right to cancel or postpone a training year or workshop if minimum student numbers are not reached to ensure a viable experiential learning group. In the rare event of a total cancellation by the Institute, a 100% full refund of all fees (including deposits) will be issued to the student.

Liability Cap:The Institute’s liability in the event of course cancellation is strictly limited to the tuition fees paid. The Institute accepts no liability for any secondary or consequential losses incurred by the student, including but not limited to pre-booked travel, accommodation, or lost clinical income.
