Train as a Psychotherapist

Before you dive in...

Transactional Analysis (TA) is a social psychology inspired by Eric Berne in the 1950s. The modality of TA originates from Berne’s work as psychiatrist and ego-psychology. TA incorporates relational theory, integrative, and humanistic principles. This integrative approach draws from a range of disciplines, providing a truly unique and adaptable methodology.

TA is an internationally recognised modality delivered in counselling, psychotherapy, education, and organisational settings. Many people in different professions and industries take courses in TA to help them get along at work. People often take a short course or a foundation year in TA for their personal development and to help them improve their communication skills and have better relationships.

Our training program opens the door for you to start learning about TA. You might be thinking of training as a psychotherapist or wondering about becoming a counsellor. The entry requirement for our training program is the two day introductory course called a TA101. This provides you with a grounding in the core concepts of Transactional Analysis so that you are fully prepared to enter the training program.

The next step is our Foundation Year, which is the gateway to formal training in counselling and psychotherapy. Once you complete the foundation year, you can then choose which route you want to take. Route One leads to a Diploma in Transactional Analysis (Dip. TA) where you become a psychotherapeutic counsellor.

Route Two leads to certification as a Transactional Analyst Psychotherapist,  CTA (P) where you become a fully qualified psychotherapist. Both of these routes are part of the same course, with route one giving you a mid point qualification with the option to continue to route two. Read more below about routes one and two.
