Louise Witney
Director
Louise Witney is an experienced Transactional Analsyst psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with 20 years of private practice to draw from. Her career began in 2003 when she decided to move away from business and embarked on a psychotherapy training program. "I went to therapy one cold morning in January, after my life had taken an unexpected turn, and had the realisation there and then that I was in the wrong job." Since then, Louise has pursued her career as a psychotherapist, becoming a clinical supervisor and a provisonal teaching and supervising transactional analyst.
The Academy of Transactional Analysis was founded in 2026 with a view to improving access to psychotherapy training. A common assumption among the general public is that psychotherapy is a profession reserved for the academically proficient or economically privileged. Such people are highly respected and revered in the field because without them, important seminal works and significant research studies may never have been published. However, now is the time we must recognise and account for people who learn differently because without them, the profession stands to lose brilliant, creative, competent, skilled and highly attuned aspiring psychotherapists who might otherwise leave a training cohort.
Having trained in an era when accessibility requirements were not recognised, Louise witnessed her colleague and dear friend struggle with putting into words and into writing her unique skill and competence as a Psychotherapist. "One thing that struck me on the day we passed our exams, was that rather than being elated and celebrating her success, my colleague went home, exhausted." This speaks to the relief experienced by neuro-diverse trainees when they meet a milestone. Relief, not joy. The Academy of TA is where different and diverse learning styles are supported, valued and honoured.
